New 21+ age category in UAE for Cinema:

UAE ends Cinematic Releases Censorship for its foreign residents. Not cutting steamy scenes that could offend traditional Islamic sensibilities. The Emirati Media Regulatory Authority introduced a new 21+ age category for viewers.

The United Arab Emirates reported on December 19 that it would not extend censor films released in cinemas. The country’s latest effort to boost its brand as a liberal hub is attractive to foreigners.

Not cutting sensitive scenes that could offend traditional Islamic sensibilities. The Emirati Media Regulatory Authority will introduce a new 21+ age category for viewers.

“The movies come live in cinemas as per to their international version,” the authority said in a Twitter post.

Like elsewhere in the Middle East, Censors in the UAE have long withdrawn scenes in cinematic releases. Scenes that show nudity, homosexuality, sex, and other content felt improper, sometimes showing to plot holes.

UAE becoming Liberal for foreigners:

Outsiders outnumber residents nearly nine to one in the federation of seven sheikhdoms. The variety of culture and faith in the tourism-dependent nation has been at odds with its Islamic rules and traditions. UAE advances its socially liberal atmosphere to lure global workers. The government has improved its Islamic legal code, and next year will vary its weekend to Saturday-Sunday to align with the Western businesses and demands.

With La Fuerza, Christina Aguilera returns to her roots

Published

José Alfredo Jiménez's Mexican classic

It’s the singer’s first Spanish-language release in more than two decades.

Christina Aguilera doesn’t pick up where she left off with her Latin Grammy-winning Spanish album Mi Reflejo 22 years ago. Instead, in the EP La Fuerza, the superstar singer comes full force as a “grown woman and a mother” to showcase her Latino roots. And that’s just the start.

While Mi Reflejo in 2000 featured five Spanish-language versions of tracks from her self-titled debut album from 1999, four original compositions, and two cover songs. La Fuerza features six original tracks, all co-written by Aguilera.

“It is something I have needed to do for a long time, but to be honest, I liked to wait for the right moment,” Aguilera said in a Los Angeles interview. “When everything slowed down in the last couple of years. I was available to take a step back also refocus on my priorities and what I’d been wanting to do.”

Aguilera’s rhythms in La Fuerza range from reggaeton (in the opener Ya Llegué) to Latin/urban fusion, ballad, and guaracha. In La Reina, she even tackles ranchero music to the recently deceased Vicente Fernández.

Who famously performed José Alfredo Jiménez’s Mexican classic El Rey.

During the pandemic in 2020, the mother of two relocated to Miami with her family to the job for a month in the studio with other musicians also “finally dive in the way I wanted to, ’cause I wasn’t just going to do it and receive songs and be done,” she explained.

Existing in a city with one of the largest Spanish-speaking populations in the United States. Where Latin music can be attended everywhere, helped her reconnect with her childhood also inspired her. It just felt so good contacting back to it. The singer, whose father is Ecuadorian, cultivated up in a Spanish-speaking household until her parents divorced when she was six years old.

Yes, that was part of why it was so important to me. You know, I grew up in a Spanish-speaking household. But because I don’t have a Spanish-speaking partner, my kids don’t hear it the way I did. So it’s such a beautiful thing to give them the experience of music, to be around. And see that it’s a part of them, a part of their background, and a part of my childhood that I’m sharing with them.

The entire experience, from baby Christina with Mi Reflejo to now La Fuerza as an adult, means so much to me to share it with my children.
