Pakistan is ready to help Afghanistan’s new leaders. Don’t Isolate the Taliban says Pakistan’s, Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Instead, help them build a stable Government.
Working with Taliban:
You have to keep patience and understand that the Taliban has just taken over Afghanistan. To build any country is not easy work. So don’t Isolate the Taliban says Pakistan’s Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Instead, help them build a stable Government.
International community towards Taliban Growth:
Pakistan’s government aims that the international community form a road map that leads to strategic recognition of the Taliban. With reasons, if they fulfil its claims — and then sit down face to face and talk it out with the top leaders.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Taliban:
“If they are managing things properly, Taliban will make it more comfortable for themselves. They will get acceptability, which is needed for identification.
The international community has to understand: What’s the choice? What are the advantages? This is the truth, and can they adapt away from this fact?”
Innovative ways to deal with the Taliban:
We have to find innovations to deal with the Taliban. More realistic in your approach. Talk with share views that’s the only way to bring peace in the area.
Qureshi said that expectations from the Taliban control could include a general government and support for human rights, especially for women and girls.
More Practical Approach:
“It has to be a practical assessment, a realistic view on both sides, and that will set the tone for acceptance eventually,” the Pakistani minister said. But, he said the good news: The Taliban are listening to us, “and they are not indifferent to what is being said by friends and the international community.”
Pakistan hadn’t seen a new entrance of Afghan refugees — a sensitive matter for Pakistanis, who are highly motivated to stop it. However, a humanitarian disaster, a foundering administration, and workers who return to jobs and school but aren’t getting salaries are not good.
Last words by Qureshi on Taliban:
Qureshi guided patience and authenticity. After all, he said, every premature attempt to support Afghanistan has failed. So don’t expect further efforts to produce quick success with the Taliban. If the US and its allies “could not change them or drop them in two decades, how will you do it in the following two months or the next two years?”.
