PCR Test for Childrens in UAE:

Childrens visiting schools should go for regular testing for safety. The testing is part of a general plan announced by the National Crisis, Emergency and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) to guarantee a safe return to school.

Abu Dhabi Schools: now offer free campus site testing for kids visiting a school. Students must undergo the PCR tests. Here is a swift guide on what you can do to make the method easier:

What is PCR testing necessary for students?

The condition applies to all kids attending public, private and charter schools in the UAE and to students registered in universities, nurseries, daycare centres, training institutes, and universities.

  • Students has to submit negative PCR test result within the past 96 hours at the commencement of the school year or term.
  • 12 years students must get a PCR test every month. 
  • Those who are fully vaccinated can take a nasal PCR test every month. Those who are not yet vaccinated or have medical vaccination freedom have to take a nasal PCR test every week.

Students in private schools in Dubai, and students aged less than 12 years in Sharjah’s private schools, do not require the tests at the moment.

In addition, distant learning is an option for children under 12 in many schools, students of judgment, and many university students. 

What is a nasal PCR 

The nasal test is available for children of all ages. However, it can feel insignificantly nosy for younger takers. Some basic steps could help make the method easier.

  • Communicate with children about why the test is important. Highlight positive aspects, especially how the regular covid-19 testing can keep schools safe so that they can continue attending classes and meeting their friends in person.
  • Guide them on how to place themselves easily during a test. Tell them to close while their eyes while taking a jab and take deep breaths during the test. This can help dissipate the anxiety of the swab.

  • Saliva tests are an optional for 12 year kids in UAE. 
  • Dont give any food to Children before 45 minutes before the test.
  • Ask your child to listen to the testing professional and pool saliva in the mouth.
  • Tell your child that they may need to spit multiple times so that two millilitres of saliva can be collected.
  • Practise spitting into a container at home, as young children may need some help initially.

Free testing

Suppose you would like to take your child for the PCR testing yourself. In that case, all private and public testing centres in Abu Dhabi offer free testing for schoolchildren, with several facilities – including drive-through centres – also providing a saliva testing option.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention has also designated centres in other emirates to take the tests.
