The hunger strike called off by the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. This strike was called off later this week. This involved around 1,400 inmates. They went back after their demands were met. This statement was given by a Palestinian group on Wednesday.
There has been a lot of problems after the escape planned by six militants. They has planned on a dramatic escape from a high-security jail in northern Israel. This happened on 6th September. They planned their escape via a tunnel dug under a sink. Luckily four among them have been recaptured.
Following this hundreds of their fellow inmates were transferred to other jails. Their personal belongings were also confiscated. This statement was released by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club. The Palestinian Authority’s commission for prisoners went ahead for for hunger strike from Friday. Around 1,380 prisoners from almost 4000 prisoners planned to start this from Friday, similarly the others were to join them t following week.
However on Wednesday, the Prisoners’ Club gave out a statement. They decided to “suspend the collective hunger strike after the demands were met” including a “cessation of the collective punishments.”. However the demands of the prisoners were not revealed.
