(Prime Minister of Pakistan) Imran Khan on Tuesday won the UAE’s Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award for his contribution to sports. It includes leading Pakistan’s cricket team to victory in the 1992 Cricket World Cup. He received the award in Dubai.
‘Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Award’ generally honors individuals with remarkable achievements in their lives.
The ruling PTI’s Senator Faisal Javed Khan took to his official Twitter account to announce the premier’s win of the “prestigious” award.
All about ceremony
The ceremony to announce the winners of the 11th MBR Creative Sports Award – the largest such award in terms of prize money and categories. The first dedicated to creativity in sports – was held on Monday at the Deep Dive Dubai, (the world’s deepest pool).
Chairperson of the Dubai Sports Council Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed and Chairman of the Award Board of Trustees Mattar Al Tayer both were present at the ceremony.
The UAE-based news agency also reported that PM Imran has been invited to receive his award at the award ceremony planned to be held at the Expo 2020, Dubai on January 9.
Contribution to cricket
Khan was recognized for his efforts to make Pakistan one of the leading cricket countries in the world.
The legendary all-rounder Imran Khan was the captain of the Pakistani team that won the 1992 Cricket World Cup, beating England in the final.
An icon of the inspiring sport, he continues to inspire young people as a Prime Minister, improving the status of the sport in general and cricket in particular and allowing Pakistani society in sports.
Nowadays, half of the country’s 221 million people identify as being a big cricket fan, and around 42,000 players are being officially registered with the Pakistan Cricket Board.
In 2019, Khan launched a groundbreaking $ 639 million Pakistani Youth Wellbeing Initiative, where young men and women will receive scholarships and skills development opportunities, including scholarships in the sport.
In June of this year, Khan announced his purpose for launching scholarships was to build a good cricket pitch in each of citizen of Pakistan more than 4,000 union and village councils.
