President Emmanuel Macron tweeted early Thursday that Adnan Abu Walid Al-Sahrawi had been “neutralize” by French soldiers.

Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) was construct by Sahrawi in 2015. Also is responsible for the majority of militant assaults in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.
ISGS and the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims regularly target the volatile “tri-border” area (GSIM).
