Due to Shaheen public take safety measures. Alerts are already given by police and Govt of Oman UAE. In addition, schools and universities in some areas in the UAE went online. Construction sites in Al Ain shutdown. Cyclone Shaheen is giving heavy to heavy rainfall in Oman UAE.
Flights delay due to Shaheen Cyclone in UAE:
Emirati carriers Etihad and Emirates said the wind made some flights to be postponed. The Expo 2020 Dubai team announced to check official weather updates before leaving home.
Heavy Rain in Oman and Iran:
The cyclone went down on nearby Oman and Iran on Sunday, killing at least nine people. A child who had been tidied away by water was found dead. Two Asian workers died when a hill fainted on their housing area in an industrialised zone. Across the sea in Iran, six people died in Chabahar port in the southeastern area of Sistan-Baluchestan.
The eye of Cyclone Shaheen:
The storm’s eye was about 60km from Muscat and was carrying top winds of 120kmph. The cyclone is supposed to weaken before it hits the UAE’s eastern coast. However, the NCM issued a code red alert off the eastern coast. Warning of 10-foot waves off-shore and wind breezes of 50kmph.
The cyclone causes heavy rains and strong winds in the Al Ain Region and the east coast. As a result, police patrols have been beefed up around beaches, low-lying areas and valleys. Also read about new covid cases in UAE DUBAI.
Emiratis in Oman urged them to return home:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation organisations are in touch with Emiratis who are in Oman. “UAE residents and their families are currently in Oman and would like to turn to the UAE.
