Allowing non-Muslims to marry

Abu Dhabi passed a law on Sunday allowing non-Muslims to marry, divorce, and get joint child custody under civil law in the country.

However, According to the Judicial Department of Abu Dhabi, the aim of this move is to provide “a flexible and advanced judicial mechanism for the determination of personal status disputes for non-Muslims. In addition, enhancing the Emirate’s position and global competitiveness as one of the most attractive destinations for talent and skills”.

First non-Muslims family law passed by the Emirates

Firstly, First non-Muslim family law passed by the Emirates. According to the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department. Moreover,  The law guarantees non-Muslims the right to adhere to “internationally recognized law” on customs, culture, and language, as well as protecting the best interests of their children.

To ease foreigners’ understanding of judicial procedures and improve judicial transparency. The Justice Department said, announcing the establishment of the first non-Muslim family court under the new law. Moreover,  The Judicial Department will set up the courts, which will operate in Arabic and English.

The second chapter lays down laws for divorce procedures for non-Muslims. Outlining the rights of divorced partners and the financial rights of a wife after divorce.

The third chapter deals with the custody of a child after divorce. In addition, The article introduces the concept of joint custody. In which parents and children share equal custody of their child.

The purpose of this concept is to preserve the psychological health of the children and preserve the cohesion of the family after divorce.

The fourth chapter sets up laws for inheritance. Registration of wills for non-Muslims and also establishes the right of a foreigner to draw a will and pass on their assets to whomever they choose.

The fifth chapter of the law addresses the proof of paternity for non-Muslim foreigners. “providing that the proof of paternity of the newborn child is based on marriage or recognition of paternity”.

Etihad Rail Passenger trains make Debut for Abu Dhabi-Dubai

UAE’s Etihad Rail has revealed the first renderings

The UAE’s Etihad Rail has revealed the first renderings of its new passenger trains. The images are exclusively published by The National. Show silver and grey carriages adorned with the red Etihad Rail logo, against a backdrop of Arabian mountain ranges and deserts.

They are the first glimpse of the sleek and modern interiors of the trains. From Al Sila in the west to Fujairah in the north, the trains will run at a maximum speed of 200kph, will be able to carry 400 passengers, and will link 11 cities across the UAE.

Etihad Rail says its stations will celebrate travel and reflect regional cultures.
