The brakes are not yet being applied to increase petrol and diesel prices. State-owned oil companies have raised petrol and diesel prices for 11 consecutive days.
On Friday, state-owned oil companies raised diesel prices by 33-35 paise and petrol by 30-33 paise. Due to rising petrol prices, it has crossed Rs 90 per liter for the first time in the national capital Delhi.
Today, petrol has been hiked to Rs 90.19 per liter in Delhi and diesel to Rs 80.60 per liter. At the same time, in Mumbai, which is said to be the financial capital of the country, petrol is being sold at Rs 96.62 and diesel at Rs 87.67 per liter.
In Kolkata, diesel is priced at Rs 74.19 per liter and petrol at Rs 91.41 per liter. In Chennai, diesel is priced at Rs 85.63 per liter and petrol at Rs 92.25 per liter.
