Riyadh Book Fair 2021 open by Saudi culture minister

The Riyadh International Book Fair 2021 got inaugurate on Thursday by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture. Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, who welcomed writers, publishers and cultural personalities. Also leaders from across the world.

Iraq is the honored guest of this year’s edition. In addition a number of Iraqi intellectuals and artists arrived on Thursday. Which is ahead of their presentations at the exhibition.

Iraq’s Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities Hassan Nazim and Egypt’s Minister of Culture Ines Abdel-Dayem. Were present at the Riyadh International Book Fair opening ceremony in the capital. Which is being organize under King Salman’s patronage.

On the margins of the ceremony, Prince Badr bin Abdullah met with his Iraqi and Egyptian counterparts individually.

In view of the cultural links that have linked Iraq and Egypt throughout history. Prince Badr bin Abdullah said the Kingdom was eager to strengthen collaboration with them.  Also emphasizing the significance of collaborative effort to improve the role of literature as an important cultural reservoir.

This year’s fair, which runs from Friday to October 10. Also features over a thousand local, regional, and international publishing houses representing 28 countries.

On the 4th and 5th of October, the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, will host the first-ever publishers’ conference in the Kingdom.


The conference will feature 12 panel discussions with 42 speakers from Saudi Arabia. Also  around the world to discuss the state of the publishing industry in the Arab world. In addition ongoing efforts to develop the industry to international competitive levels.

The theme for the new edition of the fair is “New Destination, New Chapter.”
